Gaming and Esports entrepreneur
My journey through Esports and media started 10 years ago when I pushed myself to lend a hand in Israeli Esports events out of passion, they were strictly BYOC (bring your own computer) LAN events. These events had no audience, only players. And so they remained underground and niche. I identified a need. An entertainment potential that was yet untapped, and started working towards it. The potential of creating a spectacle out of a competitive gaming match. And I was right on the money, as that proved to be the global zeitgeist for up and coming Esports titles. Productions were moving away from massive LANs to well crafted stage and broadcast events focusing on one match at a time.
To tackle the challenge, I started producing events and livestreams on my own, finding success and founding 4DV, an Esports and Gaming specialist production company out of my own moderate funds.
At that point I identified the rise of social gaming, and enlisted investors to open an Esports venue called HYPE gaming, in which gamers can visit, socialize and play together with strangers or friends and encourage the rise of new communities.
Through those challenges I learned how to share and convince employees and investors alike in my vision, but since I was not the CEO of these companies, I could keep developing my skills in production of both events and broadcasts while being involved in managing them.
With COVID hitting Israel hard, I went all in on broadcast production, joining and quickly advancing as a freelancer at prominent broadcast, control room and OB crews. Quickly getting my name known in the israeli TV and live broadcast industry, utilizing many tricks and tools originating from Esports broadcast to solve “traditional” TV problems.
Last year I was given the largest challenge yet. Bring a TV channel from mere concept to full operation as the General Manager. A channel dealing with gaming and Esports exclusively.
We launched “The Gaming Channel” within 7 months, and stabilized after 11.
In this period of time I needed to scale up operation from a team of 3 (including me) to 15, building the various teams - from editorial, news desk, production, digital, operation and technical. For the first time I was directly managing a consistent workforce, being responsible for their welfare, personal growth and hierarchical structure.
For the first time I was not producing by myself or with a temporary freelance crew. I had a team I could trust and by that discovered a new passion. The passion of helping others around me grow and reach their potential, and collaborating to create a product we can be proud of as a team. While I make a good producer, I am now setting my sights at managing projects in Esports with as many disciplines as possible in those teams.
With this significant experience as a manager and entrepreneur, having brought stability and sustainability to my current role and company, I am now looking to rank up a league or two.
I am open to any position where the challenge is great enough.
